UAPL Advisory Circulars

• Advisory Circulars (ACs) related to UAPL are issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS).

AC 101-4-1 (Rev 1)

• The effective date of AC 101-4-1 (Rev 1) is 1 October 2021.
• The UAPL applies to persons interested in obtaining a UAPL.

UAPL Eligibility

• The age requirement for holding a UAPL is at least 16 years old.
• UAPL applicants can attempt the theory test twice within one month.

UAPL Theory Test

• The passing score required for the UAPL theory test is 75%.
• A pass in the theory test is valid for 24 months.

UAPL Practical Assessment

• The practical assessment for UAPL applicants is conducted by an Authorized Flight Examiner (AFE).
• The practical assessment for Class B UAPL applicants is also conducted by an Authorized Flight Examiner (AFE).

UAPL Categories

• Under Class A UAPL, the maximum total mass limit for UA is 25 kg.
• There are four categories of UA under Class A UAPL.
• Class B UAPL allows a pilot to operate specific UA models with a total mass over 25 kg.
• Rotorcraft includes helicopters.

UAPL Application

• The theory test can be booked on the CAAS website.
• The typical processing time for a UAPL application is 10 working days.
• During the UAPL application process, an applicant must upload their theory test results.

UAPL Proficiency Check

• All UAPL holders must pass a proficiency check every 4 years.
• If a Class A UAPL holder fails to complete a proficiency check, their UAPL will expire.

Refresher Training

• Class B UAPL holders must complete refresher training for each rating every year.
• During the proficiency check related to refresher training, a Class B UAPL holder must provide practical assessment results.

CAAS-Approved UATO

• The list of CAAS-approved UA training and assessment organizations (UATO) can be found on the CAAS website.

CAPELS Registration

• Individuals with a SingPass account can register for CAPELS using SingPass.
• Non-SingPass account holders can register for CAPELS using an email address.
