Economic Abuse
- Definition: The deprivation or threat of deprivation of financial resources, including the victim's right to acquire, use, or own property or assets
- Examples:
- Controlling the victim's finances or access to money
- Withholding financial support or resources
- Forcing the victim to work or engage in activities against their will
- Destroying or damaging the victim's property
Psychological Violence
- Definition: Acts or omissions that cause emotional or psychological distress or suffering, including intimidation, harassment, stalking, or damage to the victim's property
- Examples:
- Threats of harm or abandonment
- Humiliation, belittling, or degradation
- Isolation from family and friends
- Surveillance or monitoring without consent
Sexual Violence
- Definition: Any act of sexual assault, rape, or other forms of sexual abuse
- Examples:
- Rape or attempted rape
- Sexual harassment or molestation
- Forcing the victim to engage in sexual activities
- Other forms of sexual exploitation
Penalties For Violators
- Imprisonment: 6 years to 12 years
- Fine: P100,000 to P300,000
- Mandatory psychological counseling or therapy
- Forfeiture of property or assets used in the commission of the crime
- Temporary or permanent protection orders against the violator
Protection Orders
- Types:
- Barangay Protection Order (BPO): issued by the barangay chairman or a judge
- Temporary Protection Order (TPO): issued by a judge, effective for 30 days
- Permanent Protection Order (PPO): issued by a judge, effective until further order
- Content:
- Restrain the respondent from committing further acts of violence
- Award temporary custody of minor children to the petitioner
- Direct the respondent to stay away from the petitioner and their family
- Prohibit the respondent from harassing or communicating with the petitioner
- Order the respondent to undergo counseling or therapy
