Expressing Time in History
- The Christian calendar is the most common method for counting years.
- BC (Before Christ) denotes the period before the birth of Jesus Christ.
- AD (Anno Domini) represents the period after the birth of Jesus Christ.
- Decade (10 years), century (100 years) and millennium (1000 years) are also used to measure time.

Calculating Centuries
- In general, the AD 1st century covers the first 100 years after the birth of Jesus Christ (AD1-100).
- To determine the century of a year:
- If the year is three digits, add 1 to the first digit.
- If the year is four digits, add 1 to the first two digits.
- Exception: Years ending in "00" follow a different rule.
