TSA Regulations for Flying Armed
- Who: Federal, municipal, county, state, tribal, and territorial law enforcement officers sworn and commissioned to enforce criminal and immigration statutes, authorized by their agency to carry weapons, and have completed a TSA-approved LEO flying armed training course.
- When: Necessary for duties like protective escorts, travel related to official travel (prepared for duty, FAM), or prisoner transport; when agency policy allows.
- How (Non-Sterile Areas): Check in to the front desk at least one hour before departure, fill out the 'Notice of LEO Flying Armed' form.
- How (Sterile Areas): When entering the sterile area, LEOs must present credentials with a full face photo and official seal, another valid form of identification, a 'LEO Flying Armed' form, and a UFAN (or alphanumeric # for agencies without UFAN).
- Onboard and Escorting Prisoners: LEOs must meet other armed LEOs before doors close, or at least know where other armed LEOs are seated, and not consume alcohol on the flight or within 8 hours before.

- What: LEOs must present credentials, a valid ID, a 'LEO Flying Armed' form, and an agency-issued unique identifier (UFAN).
LEOs Onboard Aircraft and Prisoners
