• The fourth stage in transportation history was characterized by the emergence of the automobile and airplane industries in the early 20th century.
• The development of highways and road networks, along with the mass production of automobiles, led to the widespread use of cars as the dominant mode of transportation for individuals.
• Airplanes revolutionized long-distance travel, and commercial aviation became an important industry in the mid-20th century.
• In recent decades, the rise of digital technology has led to the emergence of new transportation systems, such as ride-sharing services and electric vehicles, which are changing the way people move around cities.
