- The provisions of Chapter 316 apply to the operation of vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians on state-maintained highways, county-maintained highways, and municipal streets and alleys.
- It is unlawful for anyone to fail to perform any act required or do any act forbidden in this chapter.
Required Obedience to Traffic Laws
- The owner or person employing the driver of a vehicle cannot require or knowingly permit the operation of the vehicle in a manner contrary to the law.
- A violation of this subsection is a noncriminal traffic infraction, punishable as a moving violation.
Obedience to Police and Fire Department Officials
- It is unlawful and a misdemeanor of the second degree to willfully fail or refuse to comply with any lawful order or direction of a law enforcement officer, traffic crash investigation officer, traffic infraction enforcement officer, or member of the fire department.
- Certified emergency medical technicians or paramedics are exempt from this subsection when responding to emergencies and providing emergency medical treatment.
