    Human Rights and Anti-Harassment/Discrimination Policy

    • The City of Toronto is committed to respectful, equitable service delivery and employment practices, and recognizes the dignity and worth of every person.
    • The policy is guided by the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

    Purpose and Scope

    • The goal of the policy is to prevent and address harassment and discrimination, and to create a climate of understanding and mutual respect.
    • The policy applies to all City of Toronto employees, volunteers, Accountability Officers, elected officials, and members of the public who interact with the City.
    • All employees are responsible for respecting the dignity and rights of their co-workers and the public they serve.

    Prohibited Grounds of Discrimination

    • In the provision of services and facilities, every person has a right to equal treatment without discrimination or harassment because of:

      • Ancestry
      • Citizenship
      • Colour
      • Creed
      • Disability
      • Ethnic origin

      • Gender expression
