The blood letting that would erupt the Alamo on March 6th, 1836 was the result of more than 1/2 century of conflicts over land borders, slavery and politics between Americans and the neighboring territories of Spain. It's virtually impossible to separate so-called pocketbook issues, land sales, land values, slaves, economic issues from patriotic and political issues as well, because they're always inextricably intertwined.
