Chapter 1: The Cyclone
- Dorothy lives in Kansas with her Aunt Em, Uncle Henry, and her dog Toto doing hard labor in the sun
- One day, Uncle Henry is worried about spinning dark clouds in the distance
- He shouts that a cyclone is coming
- Aunt Em calls Dorothy inside to get to the storm cellar
- Dorothy runs to grab Toto as a strong wind shakes the house
- She holds Toto tightly as the house lifts into the air
- The house spins around, with Dorothy and Toto safe inside
- The house stops moving with a thump
- Dorothy and Toto discover they are in a colorful land with vibrant trees and flowers
Chapter 2: The Council with the Munchkins
- Dorothy wakes up to a colorful land after the house stops moving
- She sees a group of small people walking toward her dressed in blue clothes and round hats with tiny bells on them

- The Tin Man says he's rusted and asks for oil
- Dorothy finds an oil can and oils the tin man and he can move again
