Thomas Carlyle Ford: American Fashion Designer and Filmmaker

Thomas Carlyle Ford is an American fashion designer and filmmaker.
He launched his eponymous luxury brand in 2005, having previously served as the creative director at Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent.
Ford wrote and directed the films A Single Man (2009) and Nocturnal Animals (2016).
He currently serves as the chairman of the Board of the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
Ford was born in Texas and grew up in Houston and San Marcos. He later graduated from the New School with a degree in architecture.
Ford started his fashion career by working as a design assistant for Cathy Hardwick for two years, before moving to Perry Ellis.
In 1990, Ford was hired as the chief women's ready-to-wear designer at Gucci. His role rapidly expanded, and he became the creative director of Gucci in 1994.
In 1999, Ford was named Creative Director of Yves Saint Laurent as well. He left Gucci in 2004 and launched his own line of menswear, beauty, eyewear, and accessories in 2006.
Ford has dressed many famous people, including Michelle Obama, Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, and Daniel Craig.
In 2009, Ford made his directorial debut with A Single Man, which was nominated for several awards. He directed Nocturnal Animals in 2016.
Ford married Richard Buckley in 2014, and they have a son who was born in September 2012 via gestational surrogate. Buckley passed away in September 2021.
