Odia, also written as Oriya, is a language spoken by the Odia people in the Indian state of Odisha. The modern Odia language is formed from Tadbhava words with significant Sanskrit (Tatsama) and loanwords from Desaja, English, Hindustani (Hindi/Urdu), Persian, and Arabic Odia grammar distinguishes between singular and plural number, first, second, and third person, and masculine and feminine gender, although the gender of the noun has no morphological consequences for the pronoun and the verb Odia is an inflectionally rich language, with a subject–object–verb (SOV) writing system and a three-tier tense system
