- The sphenoid bone is an unpaired bone
- It's the most complex bone due to its irregular, butterfly or wasp-like shape
- The sphenoid bone is composed of four main parts:
- Body
- Lesser wing
- Greater wing
- Pterygoid processes
- Key anatomical landmarks include:
- Optic canal
- Superior orbital fissure
