The Enneagram Model

  • A model symbolizing the unfolding of human consciousness, rooted in Sufi mysticism
  • Identifies nine major personality types, each with its own characteristics
  • Each type organized around a chief feature of character or passion

Personality Types

  • Each person is born with one type, but can identify with aspects of other types
  • Three kinds of intelligence or intuitive information reception: belly-based, emotional, and head-based
  • Each type characterized by three emotional predispositions:
    • Types 1-8-9: belly-based, predisposed to anger
    • Types 2-3-4: emotional, predisposed to not knowing
    • Types 5-6-7: head-based, predisposed to fear

Type Interactions

  • Each type connected to others by lines indicating influential types in stressful or secure situations
  • For example, a Nine type under stress behaves like a Three, and in a secure situation, like a Six

Wings and Subtypes

  • Each type has two adjacent wings, each with a complementary second side to the personality
