Chapter 1: Huck in Trouble
- Huck introduces himself and explains that his story is a continuation of Tom Sawyer's adventures
- Huck and Tom Sawyer found $6,000 each, which they got from robbers, and are now famous
- Huck's father, Pap, is a drunk and a bad influence, and Huck is unhappy living with the Widow Douglas
- Huck runs away from the Widow's house and meets Tom Sawyer, who invites him to join a robbers' gang
- Huck doesn't like living in a house and sleeping in a bed, so he runs away again
Chapter 1: Huck's Father Returns
- Huck's father, Pap, returns and demands Huck's money
