- Juveniles may be admitted to an adult jail when accompanied by appropriate documentation demonstrating the juvenile has waived juvenile court jurisdiction, been indicted as an adult, been direct filed, or a court has imposed adult sanctions.
- Juveniles will not be accepted into the facility for the purpose of fingerprinting and photographing when being charged as a juvenile and/or awaiting transportation to an appropriate juvenile facility.
- Juveniles arrested for any misdemeanor will not be accepted into the facility, regardless of previous adult sanctions.
- Inmate observations of juveniles shall include documented physical observations by detention officers.
- If it is established that a juvenile may have been improperly arrested as an adult, the Inmate Management Section Commander will be notified.
- The Intake and Release Unit supervisor will attempt to verify the age of the arrestee by methods including, but not limited to: fingerprint submission via Rapid ID, review of the Jail Management System (JMS) for prior records, review of Benchmark for prior court records, inquiry into the Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC) database, and inquiry into the Driver And Vehicle Information Database (DAVID).
- If verification is unsuccessful, the matter will be brought to the attention of the first appearance judge. The judge shall determine whether the inmate shall be treated as a juvenile or an adult.
