- Lovebirds are a genus of small parrots, known for their strong and monogamous pair bonding.
- There are nine species in the genus, all native to the African continent, with one species native to Madagascar.
- Lovebirds live in small flocks and eat fruit, vegetables, grasses, and seeds. Some species also eat insects and figs.
- Lovebirds are kept as pets and several coloured mutations have been selectively bred in aviculture.
- The average lifespan of a lovebird is 10 to 12 years.
- Lovebirds are small, stocky parrots with a short blunt tail, and a relatively large, sharp beak. They are mostly green with a variety of colours on their upper body, depending on the species.
- There are three groups of lovebirds: the agapornis, the eye-ring group, and the dimorphic group.
- Lovebirds mate repeatedly and lay eggs every other day until the clutch is complete, typically at four to six eggs.
