Statistics

By calculating averages like mean, median and mode, we get a better idea about central tendencies of the data; standard deviation shows us the spread of values around the average value. Probability
This area involves predicting outcomes based off past results. Students study games where probabilities play a major role - like flipping coins, rolling dice or playing cards. They also deal with situations involving compounded chance events such as combinations and permutations, conditional probability, independent trials, mutually exclusive events, etc.. The concept of odds helps them estimate likelihood of occurrence of particular event.
