Gender of Nouns
- All French nouns are masculine or feminine.

Definite Article: "The"

- The following short cuts for inserting accents and signs can be used in word-processing programs.
- l'accent aigu (acute accent; as in Amélie) -> place only over 'e', pronounce like 'a' in day.
- l'accent grave (grave accent; as in Angèle) -> place over an 'a', 'e' or 'u', pronounce 'e' like 'ai' in air.
- l'accent circonflexe (circumflex; as in Jérôme) -> place over any vowel, makes the vowel sound longer.
