Causal Loop Diagram (CLD)
- A CLD is a diagram that shows the cause-and-effect relationships between variables
- It includes one or more feedback loops (reinforcing or balancing processes)
- Delays are an important aspect of CLDs
- Topic/issue refers to something you want to understand better
General Component of a Causal Loop Diagram (CLD)
- Formulate the core problem
- Tell the story of the problem behavior
- Select the key variables you want to work with
- Assign a name for the variables specifically
- Graph the variables' behavior over time (BOTG)
- Hypothesize about how the variable might be interconnected or correlated
