Cutting and Dissecting Instruments
- 7 handle with 15 blade (deep knife): Cuts deep, delicate tissue
- 3 handle with 10 blade (inside knife): Cuts superficial tissue
- 4 handle with 20 blade (skin knife): Cuts skin
- Straight Mayo scissors: Cuts suture and supplies; also known as suture scissors
- Curved Mayo scissors: Cuts heavy tissue (fascia, muscle, uterus, breast); available in regular and long sizes
- Metzenbaum scissors: Cuts delicate tissue; available in regular and long sizes
Clamping and Occluding Instruments
- Hemostat: Clamps blood vessels or tags sutures; jaws may be straight or curved; also known as crile, snap, or stat
- Mosquito: Clamps small blood vessels; jaws may be straight or curved
- Kelly: Clamps larger vessels and tissue; available in short and long sizes; also known as Rochester Pean
