- Subject verb agreement occurs when the subject and verb are associated, creating subject verb agreement.
Subject
- Subjects can be nouns or pronouns.
- Examples of pronouns: he, she, it, they, we
Verbs
- If the subject is singular, the verb is also singular.
- If the subject is plural, the verb is also plural.
- Examples: "He works", "They work", "Children play", "A dog barks"
Subjects Joined by "And"
- Two or more subjects joined by "and" are considered plural, and require a plural verb form without "s."
Subjects Modified by "Each," "Every"
- If a subject is modified by "each" or "every," the subject is singular and will take a verb that ends in "s".
- This applies to "each + subject + verb (singular) + s/es"
- And "each and every"

- The verb must agree with the subject that is closest.
