Pronouns

  • The pronoun "we" is used to refer to a group of people, including the speaker.
  • The pronoun "they" is used to refer to a group of people or things, or to refer to someone whose gender is not specified.
  • The pronoun "she" is used to refer to a female person or animal.
  • The pronoun "it" is used to refer to an object, an animal, or an idea.
  • The pronoun "who" is used to refer to a specific person or people.
  • The pronoun "which" is used to refer to things or animals, or to ask a question.
  • The pronoun "that" is used to refer to a specific thing or idea.
  • The pronoun "this" is used to refer to something that is close by or has already been mentioned.
  • The pronoun "these" is used to refer to multiple things that are close by or have already been mentioned.
  • The pronoun "those" is used to refer to multiple things that are farther away or have not been mentioned before.
  • The pronoun "my", "your", "his", "her", "its", "our", and "their" are used to show possession or belonging.

Types of Pronouns

  • Personal pronouns (I, you, he, she, it, we, they) are used to replace nouns and refer to people or things.

  • Interrogative pronouns (who, what, which, whom, whose) are used to ask questions.
  • Indefinite pronouns (someone, something, anyone, anything, no one, nobody) refer to people or things without specifying which ones.
  • Reciprocal pronouns (each other, one another) are used to refer to mutual actions or relationships between people or things.
