Stroke Overview
- Stroke, also known as cerebrovascular accident (CVA), occurs when brain cells die due to disrupted blood supply.
- Brain cell function relies on constant delivery of oxygen and glucose from the bloodstream.
Types of Stroke
- Ischemic Stroke: caused by a blood clot that blocks or plugs a blood vessel in the brain.
- Hemorrhagic Stroke: caused by a blood vessel that breaks and bleeds into the brain.
