The Staff Selection Commission's Graduate Level Examination, commonly referred to as SSC GD exam, is conducted by the commission annually for the recruitment of various positions in Group C non-technical posts. This examination consists of four stages: Tier I, Tier II, Physical Efficiency Test (PET), and Detailed Medical Exam (DME).
The first stage, known as Tier I, involves computer-based objective multiple choice questions covering General Intelligence & Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English Comprehension, and General Knowledge & Current Affairs. The second stage, called Tier II, is similar to Tier I but has more comprehensive syllabus with additional subjects like Psychology, Political Science, Economics, History, Geography, etc. Both these stages have negative marking for incorrect answers.
After clearing both Tiers, candidates need to pass the PET, which includes running 1.6 kilometers within two minutes, followed by high jump and long jump tests. Finally, there's the DME where the candidate must prove their medical fitness required for performing duty as a constable. After fulfilling all these conditions, one becomes eligible for appointment as Sub Inspector of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) in CISF and ITBP forces. Every year thousands of candidates apply for this competitive examination hoping to secure a job in the public sector.
In summary, the SSC GD exam follows a rigorous process requiring physical prowess along with mental acuity. It aims to select capable individuals who can serve the country effectively while maintaining sound health standards.
