Study Notes
Research Study Design: Memory Performance Supplement
- The study aims to test the effectiveness of a new memory performance supplement on primate subjects.
- The dependent variable is the number of pictures correctly identified by the subjects.
Study Design and Procedure
- The study uses a 2 x 2 factorial design with different participants in each cell.
- The 60 subject primates are divided by gender: 30 males and 30 females.
- Each gender group is further divided in half and randomly assigned to one of two treatment conditions:
- 10 mg dose of the supplement
- 25 mg dose of the supplement
Independent Variables
- Gender (male/female)
- Dose of supplement (10 mg/25 mg)
Factorial ANOVA Design
- Two independent variables are crossed to create four treatment combinations:
- Male, 10 mg dose
- Male, 25 mg dose
- Female, 10 mg dose
- Female, 25 mg dose
