Spring Fire Department Operational Procedures
- Shift Hours: Day shifts start at 0600 hours and end at 1800 hours, while night shifts start at 1800 hours and end at 0600 hours the following day.
- Personnel Responsibilities: All Spring Fire Department personnel are expected to arrive on time and be ready to respond to emergencies. They are also responsible for performing firefighting and EMS skills, additional duties as assigned, and checking their departmental email.
- Officer in Charge Responsibilities: The officer in charge ensures the completion of daily duties, notifies the District Chief of schedule changes, and ensures the crew phone and staffing radio are always with a crew member.
- Apparatus Operator Responsibilities: Responsible for the readiness of all assigned apparatus for emergency operations, having advanced knowledge of their primary response territory, and general knowledge of other territories.
- Dress Code: Refer to SFD.055 (Uniforms) for the dress code.
- Visitors: Visitors must be announced by the first member to see them. The officer in charge will greet the visitor and determine the nature of the visit. Visitors are not allowed after 2100 hours without the approval of the officer in charge.

- Nightly Station Cleaning: The crew is responsible for nighttime clean up no later than 2100 hours. This includes attending to all areas of the station needing attention, including bays, training rooms, restrooms, and trashcans.
- Apparatus Inspection and Cleaning: Personnel are responsible for inspecting all apparatus at or before relief time, completing the daily equipment checklist, and reporting damaged or missing equipment to the officer in charge of the apparatus. Apparatus must be clean at all times. Wet apparatus must be rinsed off before parking in the fire station. Stations with a secondary apparatus (tanker, booster, and rescue) must check those units daily and complete the equipment checklist.
- Morning Roll Call: A virtual shift roll call via Webex will take place at the beginning of each 48-hour shift. The meeting is led by the District Chief or personnel acting as the District Chief. All crews are required to attend unless responding to incidents or receiving prior approval from the District Chief.
- Personnel Wake Up Time: Personnel must be awake no later than 0600 hours to ensure proper crew change, acceptable manpower levels, and the commencement of morning duties.

Parking at Facilities:
- Personnel vehicles for commuting to and from work while on duty take priority over vehicles of personnel not on duty.

- Tuesday: Apparatus Day - All equipment will be removed from the compartments, compartments will be cleaned and wiped down, components will be checked including motor, pump and all apparatus fluids, weekly assigned checklist will be completed utilizing PSTrax, apparatus will be washed, the apparatus interior will be cleaned, and all hard surfaces wiped down.
- Wednesday: Training Day - Crews will perform assigned department training. If no department training has been assigned, shift and/or company level training will be performed with the topic at the discretion of the District Chief.
