Spectrum of white light
- Rainbows often appear when it rains and the sun is shining simultaneously.
- To see it, one must turn their back to the Sun.
- Its rays penetrate the atmosphere laden with water droplets.
- A bow with beautiful colors will appear opposite, which looks as if it is hanging in the air.
Light Decomposition
- Besides in nature, rainbow colors can be obtained by passing a ray of white light through a glass prism, which is a glass block with a triangular shape.
- When light penetrates the prismit, it is refracted.
- During this process, the ray of white light decomposes into beams of colored light, creating what is called a spectrum.
- These colors are the same as those of the rainbow.
- The separation of white light into separate colors is called breakdown (dispersion).
