Smoke Alarm Installations
- CRR specialists should arrive on time and wear approved attire.
- Two specialists are recommended during visits.
- Specialists must be aware of safety.
- They must be aware of the surrounding signs of danger.
- If any danger exists, the specialist should contact their supervisor.
- Specialists must adhere to ladder manufacturer recommendations for installations.
- Specialists need to be aware of ceiling heights and configurations.
- Specialists should cancel installations when the environment is unsafe or when safety concerns exist.
- Inventory of smoke alarms provided by the department might limit the number of alarms provided by the department to two per household.
- If there are signs of weapons, illegal substances, or an unsafe environment, the appointment should be canceled.
- If child abuse is suspected, it should be reported according to Texas Family Code Section 261.101 (a).
CPR/AED and First Aid Education
- These classes are scheduled based on community needs.
- Courses are conducted at Spring Fire Department facilities or external facilities.
- Rooms should be reserved through internal systems which should be followed for reserving classroom space at Spring Fire Department.
- Residents of the Spring Fire Department territory can receive certification at no cost, subject to budgetary availability.
- Residents outside of the Spring Fire Department territory can receive certification for the cost of the certification card.
- Businesses requesting group classes will pay the cost of each certification card.
- Classes are taught by certified instructors with appropriate student/instructor ratios.
- There should be at least two instructors for each class.
- Only Spring Fire Department provided equipment and materials should be used in classes.
- The instructor should sanitize and rehabilitate all class equipment after each class.
- The minimum class size is 4 students.
