Flight Time Regulations
- Maximum flight time from 0000-0459 is 8 hours.
- Maximum flight time from 0500-1959 is 9 hours.
- Maximum flight time from 2000-2359 is 8 hours.
- Within 672 hours, maximum flight time is 100 hours.
- Within 365 days, maximum flight time is 1,000 hours.
Rest Requirements
- Required rest includes 10 hours, with a minimum of 8 hours sleep opportunity between Flight Duty Periods (FDP).
- 30 hours of rest is required within the past 168 consecutive hours.
Duty and Flight Regulations
- Maximum duty period within 168 consecutive hours is 60 hours.
- Diversions do not count as additional flight segments.
- Deadheading before a flight segment counts toward FDP time; after a segment, it does not.
Pilot Availability and Report Times
- Reserve availability period may not exceed 14 hours.
- Report time for security and check-in is 45 minutes prior; report time to be airplane ready is 35 minutes prior.
Required Flight Items

Medical Certificate Guidelines
- Pilot medical certificates must be submitted by 23:59 MTN on the 25th of the month they expire.
- Temporary medical certificates do not apply to international operations and are valid for 72 hours.
Baby Captain Regulations
- Additions to "baby captain" minimums: 100 ft to Decision Altitude/Minimum Descent Altitude, 1/2 mile to alternates.
- Increased minimums for "baby captains" do not apply to alternates; alternate minimums are 300 ft & 1 mile or published (whichever is higher).
- Only CAT I approaches are approved for "baby captains."
SIC Limitations and Regulations
- SICs with fewer than 100 hours face several limitations: low visibility, adverse weather, braking action, crosswinds over 15 knots, and reported windshear.
- These restrictions apply unless accompanied by a Check Airman.
Drug and Alcohol Policies
- No consumption of drugs and alcohol within 8 hours of report time; BAC limit is .04 per FARs but .02 for SkyWest.
- If a crewmember is suspected of being under the influence, they should be kept away from the airport and Flight Operations MOD should be notified.
Company Procedures and Manuals
- SkyWest procedures can take precedence over FARs when more restrictive.
- Must abide by new company procedures by their effective date.
- Manuals must be synced within the preceding 4 days.
Safety and Responsibility
- Safety is the primary consideration at work.
- Both the Pilot-in-Command (PIC) and Dispatcher are jointly responsible for flight safety.
- The responsibility of the dispatcher ends when the flight is closed out.
RVSM Climb and Descent Regulations
- RVSM climbs and descents are limited to a rate of climb of 1000 feet per minute when within 5 miles and 2000 feet of another aircraft.
