Skycoaster Operations and Safety

Launch Cable Settings

• The "UP" setting on the launch cable has a yellow tape color.

Equipment Identification

• A thimble, swage, and flemish eye can be found on a Flight Cable.

Minimum Height Requirements

• The minimum height requirement for a traditional Flight Suit is 42 inches.

Senior Site Controller Responsibilities

• The Senior Site Controller is the only person authorized to review the Skycoaster Owner's Manual with new employees.

Attachment Area Procedures

• In the Attachment Area, side clips are the "first things on, last things off".

Emergency Procedures

• If flyers are aloft and cannot or will not release, and the winch will not properly winch down, the procedure is to lower by using the hydraulic bypass valve.

Anemometer Installation

• The anemometer must be mounted no lower than 3/4 of the way up the flight or launch tower and must be secured with redundant connections.

Rolling Boarding Platform

• The rolling boarding platform will be securely tethered in place during each and every flight.

Skycoaster Operations

• Skycoaster operations are allowed in sustained winds up to, but not including, 30 MPH.

Certification Requirements

• Flight line performance is not the sole determining factor in the certification of a new Site Controller candidate.

Training Order

• The correct training order is: Expediter, Assistant Controller, Flight Suiter, Controller.

Hydraulic Fluid Maintenance

• All Hydraulic Fluid must be drained and replaced annually.

Scissor Lift Capacity

• The maximum capacity for a scissor lift is Ten People or 2000 pounds.

Flight Suit Inspection

• If footbar eyebolts on the flight suits are found to be attached with a standard hex nut instead of the required zinc plated nylon insert locknut, the flight suits cannot be used.

Flight Bracket Components

• The cotter pin on the Flight Bracket must be made of stainless steel.
• The number of Crosby Wire Rope Clips used to secure the secondary loops on the flight bracket is 2.

Crew Member Responsibilities

• When a site is shorthanded on crew members, only the Senior Site Controller may perform the duties of the Flight Crew.

Inspection Logs

• A completed Skycoaster Inspection Log must be included with all 3rd Party Inspections.

Senior Site Controller Appointment

• The Senior Site Controller is appointed by the individual site and oversees all Skycoaster operations and acts as a liaison with Skycoaster.

Hydraulic Landing Unit

• The recommended pressure setting for MEDIUM on the Hydraulic Landing Unit is 350 psi.

Assistant Controller Responsibilities

• At a site utilizing the rolling boarding platform, the first thing the Assistant Controller says to the new flyers is "Stand on the yellow line and hold your footbars."

Site Controller Certification

• When preparing candidates for Site Controller certification, it is the responsibility of the Senior Site Controller to ensure that all candidates are ready and have a minimum of 8 hours training in each applicable position.
