Empathy, Sympathy & Compassion

• Empathy and Sympathy: Feeling another's pain and sadness.
• Compassion: Desire to help someone in need.

Injustice:

• Defined as unfairness and inequality.
• Discrimination (race, gender, beliefs, religion, etc.)
• Bullying
• Favoritism
• Wrongful imprisonment

Sympathy and Compassion Help:

• Enable feeling of suffering
• Facilitate healing and justice.

Living Out Sympathy and Compassion:

• Notice the pain of others

The Church Community

• We are unique, different and diverse.
• The Church is a family.
• Diverse cultures, traditions, and prayer styles exist within the Church.

Jesus Uniting the Church:

• The Eucharist unites people in one accord
• The Eucharist unites everyone as part of God's family.
• The Eucharist instructs to love and respect one another.

Showing Respect:

Sacrament of Holy Orders:

• Men are ordained as priests, deacons, and bishops through this sacrament
• They celebrate sacraments like Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation, Penance/Reconciliation, Holy Matrimony, and Holy Orders.
• Ministry includes teaching about God's love and caring for believers.

Mary's Concern for Humanity:

• Mary said yes to God and became the Mother of Jesus
• Shows care and love for humanity.
