    • Initial detention up to 72 hours, then two 24-hour extensions are possible (maximum 120 hours total).
    • Extensions may be authorized under specific circumstances (constipating agents, or intentional prevention of expulsion).
    • Body scanner use for authorizing/continuing dry cell placement
    • Written reasons for dry cell detention provided to the offender
    • Reports required (to Regional Deputy Commissioner, potentially Director General) based on dry cell duration.

Reporting Requirements

  • Search Reporting: Required for non-routine searches, emergency searches, force used in strip searches, contraband detection, dry cell use, body cavity searches, seizures
  • Exceptional Search Reports: Institutional Head prepares and submits reports (Search Authorization Form, Post-Search Report, Exceptional Search Report Checklist) within five working days, to relevant personnel.

Seizure of Contraband/Unauthorized Items

  • Contraband Tagging: Items seized get a tag (CSC/SCC 0482) and stored securely.
  • Cultural/Religious Items: Elder/Spiritual Advisor/Chaplain consulted for proper treatment of seized items, following CD 568-5.
