• Cannabimimetic agents are substances that bind to cannabinoid receptors, specifically CB1 receptors. • These agents can be classified into five structural classes: + 2-(3-hydroxycyclohexyl)phenol with substitution at the 5-position of the phenolic ring + 3-(1-naphthoyl)indole or 3-(1-naphthylmethane)indole with substitution at the nitrogen atom of the indole ring + 3-(1-naphthoyl)pyrrole with substitution at the nitrogen atom of the pyrrole ring + 1-(1-naphthylmethylene)indene with substitution at the 3-position of the indene ring + 3-phenylacetylindole or 3-benzoylindole with substitution at the nitrogen atom of the indole ring • Examples of cannabimimetic agents include CP-47,497, cannabicyclohexanol, JWH-018, JWH-073, and JWH-200.
