Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board (RAB) Announcement
- The Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board (RAB) is announcing the Second Sustainable Agriculture Intensification Food Security Project (SAIP II)
- SAIP II will provide support to farmers in selected regions (Kamonyi, Huye, Ruhango, Muhanga, Gisagara, Nyamagabe, Bugesera, Rusizi, Nyagatare, Kirehe, and Ngororero) and existing SAIP 1 regions (Rwamagana, Kayonza, Gatsibo, Ngoma, Nyanza, Rulindo, Karongi, Rutsiro, and Nyabihu).
- SAIP II aims to increase crop yields, improve post-harvest handling, and add value to crops like maize, potatoes, beans, vegetables, and fruits.
- The project will focus on supporting new and existing projects, improving project quality, and enhancing food and product safety, as well as occupational health and safety.
- Interested parties must submit their applications within 10 days of the announcement to the SAIP II headquarters in Blue Star House, 35 KG 7 Ave, Kacyiru, Gasabo district.

Project Requirements
- Primary Production: Applicants must have at least one agricultural season of experience, especially seed production related to supported crops. Individuals, cooperatives, or businesses can apply. Applications must include a project proposal focusing on specific crops and potential market value in order to secure funding.
- Protected Agriculture: Applicants must be experienced in protected agriculture (e.g., greenhouses, shade nets)
- Applications must include: Business idea, capacity to operate, suitable location meeting environmental regulations, and commitment to long-term investment (minimum 50%)
- Minimum size requirements: applicants should have a minimum of 7 members for an organization, with those involved in governance. Applicants must demonstrate no outstanding debts to financial institutions and include relevant documentation such as business registration and land ownership.

- Value Addition: Applicants seeking value addition should demonstrate an understanding of value addition techniques for specific crops.
- Mechanization: Applicants for mechanization projects must have sufficient land size and demonstrate expertise in equipment operations and project viability.
- Certification: Applicants for certification projects must demonstrate adherence to quality standards.
- Project budgets: Maximum project budgets vary depending on the type of project, ranging from 20,000 USD for basic agriculture to 50,000 USD for greenhouse projects to 100,000 USD for value addition.
- Youth and Women-Owned Businesses: The initiative will offer reduced contributions to women and youth, with some of their contributions being given in kind.
