What is the purpose of the Safe Surrender Law?
The purpose of the Safe Surrender Law is to allow parents to surrender their baby within 72 hours of its birth at designated safe surrender sites such as hospitals, fire departments, and in some cases, police stations.
What information does the surrendering parent have to give?
The surrendering parent does not have to give out personal information, but they can choose to provide their name, which will be kept confidential in a private file.
What happens to the baby after it is surrendered?
After the baby is surrendered, it is given food and medical care. Both the parent and the baby are given identification bracelets.
Can the biological parents reclaim the baby after surrendering?
