### Concept of Democracy

•  A government of the people, by the people, and for the people.
•  Originates from Greek words "demos" (people) and "kratos" (strength or power).
•  Hereditary class distinctions and arbitrary class privileges do not exist in democracy.
•  People hold supreme power and possess the sovereign will.

Types of Democracy

• Parliamentary Democracy: The leader of the leading party or coalition of parties becomes the prime minister or chancellor. If the leading party weakens, the replacement takes the leadership.

• Jeffersonian Democracy: Emphasized that all male citizens were entitled to equal political opportunities and that leaders should be chosen by the people.

• Jacksonian Democracy: Focused on the needs of the ordinary people and extended suffrage to those who did not possess property.

• Liberal or Constitutional Democracy: This involves free and fair elections, universal voting rights, and a competitive political process. It can be in the form of a constitutional monarchy or republic.

• Social Democracy: Promotes universal access to health, education, just compensation for workers, and social services. Seeks to reform capitalism through state laws and policies.
