Walk Up Replacement Policy
- Eligibility: A UPRA member may replace a Tie-Down Roper (TO), a Dummy Roper (DR), a Barrel Racer (VIR), or a Goat Tier (DO) in a performance.
- Timeframe: Alternates must check in with the rodeo secretary at least 2 hours before the performance.
- Stock Contractor Decision: The stock contractor can cancel the replacement option if no member has requested it within 2 hours of the performance.
- Multiple Replacements: If more than one position is being replaced within a performance, the order of each replacement is determined by random draw.
- Non-Entrant Members: A current member who did not enter the rodeo can compete as an alternate if they are in good standing. These members are placed at the bottom of the eligible alternates list.
- Contestant Responsibility: Contestants seeking to compete as alternates must check in with the rodeo secretary and pay fees no later than hours before the performance. All fines must be cleared before a member can be placed on the alternate list.
- Slack Option: Walk-up replacement applies only to performances, not to the slack option.
- Position Limitation: Walk-up replacement is only for TO’s, DR’s, VIR’s, and DO’s spots, and no additional positions will be created to accommodate a contestant.
- Ground Rules: The Walk Up Replacement policy must be listed in the rodeo information found on the official UPRA website, www.urodeo.com
- Fee: An additional 20feeisrequired,with20 fee is required, with 20feeisrequired,with10 going to the rodeo stock contractor and $10 going to the rodeo secretary.
- Barrel Race Placement: Walk-up replacement barrel racers are placed last on the ground.
- NextGen Entry: For points to count toward official event standings, the rodeo secretary must place the contestant in the performance through the NextGen entry system.
- Abuse: Any abuse of the walk-up replacement policy to gain favor may result in disqualification.
