Reserve Tower 22 Supplied Air System Use

Purpose

Personnel working in the basket of Reserve Tower 22 during fire conditions must wear a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) for protection.

Policy

SCBA must be worn with a buddy breathing hose during structural fire fighting or when an Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health (IDLH) atmosphere is possible.

Procedure

Reserve Tower 22 has a 4500 PSI breathing air system that can be used with an SCBA.
The tower has air hoses that connect inside the basket for use with the buddy breathing connection on the SCBA.
Two 8-foot hoses are stored in the passenger side rear compartment and two additional 8-foot hoses are located in the left rear tower basket in a small storage box.
Firefighters can breathe directly from the supplied air system by:
- Wearing an SCBA pack and having it in use.
- Using a supplied air system hose from the storage box on the rear of the basket.
