Parts of the Catholic Mass
- Mass consists of four main parts: Introductory Rites, The Liturgy of the Word, The Liturgy of the Eucharist, and Concluding Rites.
Introductory Rites
- Entrance Song: Welcomes the priest, who represents Jesus, with a hymn of praise.
- Sign of the Cross: Acknowledges faith in the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit).
- Penitential Acts: Remind the congregation of their sins, seeking God's mercy.
- The Gloria: A song of praise to God.
The Liturgy of the Word
- First Reading: Usually from the Old Testament, read by a lector.
