Total - (Sum of positions from opposite ends). Used to calculate the number of items between two items.

Overlapping Items

(Sum of positions from opposite ends) - Total - 2. Used for overlapping items.

Ranking

  • Focuses on arrangement and position
  • Total number of persons in a row/column can be calculated as: Rank from Left + Rank from Right - 1 = Total.
  • The subtraction of 1 corrects for the overlap in counting the same person from both ends.
  • The same formula applies to Top/Bottom position scenarios.
  • Number of persons between two individuals (Non-Overlapping Type) = Total - (Sum of positions of two people from opposite ends).
  • For Overlapping Type scenarios uses the formula: (Sum of positions of two people from opposite ends) - Total - 2.

Example Problems in Ranking

  • Car A is 32nd from the right in a row of 60 cars, meaning it is 29th from the left.
  • Radhika is 16th from the top and 13th from the bottom, totaling 28 students
  • In a row of 54 people, if A is 15th from the left and B is 20th from the right, there are 19 people between A and B.
  • Sahil is 12th from the left, Gaurav is 18th from the right, and after exchanging positions, Sahil is 25th from the left, making the total number of people in the row 42.
  • Pradeep is 463rd from the left and 531st from the right, indicating a total of 993 persons in the row.

Arrangements

  • Involves circular and linear seating arrangements
  • In circular arrangements, right and left orientation depends on whether people face the center or away from it.
  • Linear arrangements are affected by North or South facing orientations, impacting right and left directions.

Example Problems in Arrangements

  • Ajay sits between Raman and Daljeet, Suleiman is to the left of Vikas, and Raman is to the left of Suleiman; therefore, Raman is to the right of Ajay.
  • With Anand to the left of Ravi, Shankar between Ajay and Vivek, and Ishwar between Anand and Ajay, Ravi is to the left of Vivek.
  • U is opposite P, S is between V and Q, P is to the immediate right of Q, R is between U and W, and T is between P and W. Thus, T is between P and W.
  • S is second to the left of T, T is between P and V, W is immediate right of U, W is third to the left of P, and R is third to the right of P, placing R fourth to the right of S.
  • F and I are immediate left and right of G respectively, H is third to the left of G, E and I are neighbors of J, meaning K is to the immediate right of H.
  • Nishchal is to the left of Gopal, Sreepad is second from the right, and Shrestha is between Anamika and Sreepad, so when Gopal and Sreepad switch, Gopal is between Namya and Shrestha.
  • Punit is between Iqbal and Aman, Zoya is second to the right of Iqbal, Pratiksha is third to the left of Aman, meaning that Aman is between Punit and Anamika.
  • R is above only P and S, with 4 chairs between J and S. If arranged alphabetically, the positions of chairs K and R remain unchanged.
  • N4 is above n3 and n5, there are 4 benches between n1 and n5, and bench n2 is in the 3rd spot from n3, so saying N1 is between n6 and n2 is incorrect.

Statements and Arguments

  • Arguments are based on evidence.
  • They can be strong or weak.
  • Drugs patented in western countries should first be tried on sample basis in India, because many drugs require different dosages for the Indian population.
  • Student unions in college are necessary because they help future political leaders receive political lessons. Both arguments are true.
  • Rural areas require encouragement of cottage industries to help reduce unemployment issues.
  • Young entrepreneurs should be encouraged because it reduces the burden on young people to attend job interviews; therefore, both arguments are correct.
  • Annual examinations for class 5 are not necessary to stop, so the students should not read seriously.
  • Indian scientists working abroad should not be called back to India and both of them are incorrect statements.
  • There should be an upper age limit of 65 years to stop them from being politically motivated.

Statements and Assumptions

  • These are beliefs based on certain facts supporting the conclusion.
  • Not receiving telephone calls for 9 days entitles customers to compensation.
  • Government decides to provide 1 lakh rupees for damage during accident at the family.

Statements and Conclusions

  • Must align with the statement
  • Money plays a vital role in politics, making it difficult for the poor to become politicians due to a lack of funds.
  • Vegetables are at a high price, therefore they are not cheap.

Number Series

  • Come in three types: increasing, decreasing, or a combination of both.
  • 120, 99, 80, 63, 48, with the next number being 35.
  • 65536, 8192, 1024, 128, with the next number being 1280.
  • 62, 124, 310, with the next number in the series being 930.
  • 123, 124, 133 the next number in the series is 205.
  • 5, 11, 19, 29, with the next number in the series being 41.

Letter Series

  • Focus is placed on the distance, or number of letters, between letters
  • GJQW, HKSV, ILU, with the next letter in the series being JOX.
  • B e h k d F e h k d J e h k d N e b h k d
  • A, S, S, R, T.
  • GJQW, KLVY, NOUB the new letter is SGRB
  • df, jz the letter can be completed will be DLFN

Blood Relations

  • Defined by gender, generation, and maternal/paternal side.

Example Problems in Blood Relations

  • Determining if A is sister-in-law to S.
  • Finding the relation between a and bee
  • Determining the relation b/w Sujit and Manipdip, means that Sujt will be brother-in-law of Mandip.
  • Rani is a daughter and the others are brother or son so aryan is an uncle

Coding Decoding

  • Questions involve letter and number coding
  • GO is coded as 32 meaning SUMMER is coded as 56 using opposite numbers.
  • Determining how to read skate number in a certain code determining how Slide can be read by using a different number and coding.
  • If rest = 214 code then stop can be coded using the same rule and using different number and coding.

INFERENCE

  • If statements are true, this is inference.
  • People have a baddet cut and they do do all kinds.

Non-Verbal Reasoning

  • Focuses on visual representations.
