Study Notes
The Ram Mandir, also known as the Ayodhya Temple, is a Hindu temple located in Ayodhya, India. It's a place of great religious significance for Hindus because it marks the spot where Lord Rama was believed to have been born. Here's some information about its construction details:
The foundation stone was laid down by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in August 2020, and since then the work has progressed rapidly. In October 2022, the first phase of construction got completed, with pillars and domes installed. By December 2022, major steel structures had gone up across three main parts—Sanctum Sanctorum, Sabha mandap, and Gents Gallery—of the newly built temple complex. Construction of the central dome started from December 2022, and by January 2023, the dome reached eight storeys high. As of November 2023, more than half of the total floor area of the sanctum sanctorum had been covered, along with the completion of flooring inside the inner courtyard, basement flooring, and slab erection in the sanctum sanctorum, sanitarium, and gallery portions of the structure. The marble façade is being prepared with stones imported from Udaipur, Rajasthan, and planning for the interior decorations and wall paintings has begun.
In summary, the Ram Mandir is undergoing rapid development, with various stages of construction completed and ongoing. Once finished, it will become one of the most important places of worship for devout Hindus worldwide.
