Exam Overview - RRB NTPC
The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) conducts examinations for Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) in Indian Railways. The NTPC recruitment process consists of three stages: Computer Based Test (CBT), Typing Skill Test (TST or Data Entry Speed Test), and Document Verification (DV).
Computer Based Test (CBT)
The first stage is a computer-based test conducted online. This test consists of multiple-choice questions from various areas such as General Intelligence & Reasoning, Numerical Ability, General Science, General Knowledge, and English Language Comprehension. The duration of the test is two hours for all candidates except for those with benchmark disabilities, who receive extra time according to their disability classification.
Typing Skill Test (TST)
The second stage is the Typing Skill Test (TST), also known as Data Entry Speed Test (DEST). This test assesses candidates' typing skills using a computer keyboard. Candidates who qualify in the Computer Based Test (CBT) are called for this test.
Document Verification (DV)
Candidates who pass both the CBT and TST move on to the final stage, which is Document Verification (DV). During DV, original certificates of qualifications are checked against the printout generated during online registration to ensure authenticity.
It is essential for aspirants to prepare thoroughly for each stage of the examination. Familiarizing oneself with the format of questions, understanding the syllabus, and practicing mock tests can significantly improve chances of clearing the RRB NTPC examination.
