Week 4: Lesson 12. To + infinitive or Gerund: change in meaning

forget + to + infinitive = to not remember to do something remember + to + infinitive = to not forget to do something remember + ing = to recall a memory never forget + ing = to still remember an experience

try + to + infinitive = to make an effort to achieve something try + -ing = to experiment with something to see if it works (often to solve a problem) stop + to + infinitive = to pause one activity to start another stop + -ing = to quit or end and action completely

regret + to + infinitive = to express sadness about something you are about to say (a polite way to give bad news) regret + -ing = to feel sorry about a past action or decision go on + to + infinitive = to finish one activity to start another go on + -ing = to continue doing the same action without stopping
