• These behaviors often involve non-human objects.
• They can also involve the suffering or humiliation of oneself or one's partner.
• The behavior sometimes involves children.
• Also, they can involve non-consenting persons.

Causes of Paraphilia

• Psychoanalysts theorize that paraphilia is the repetition of an early sexual habit.
• Behaviorists suggest it begins through conditioning.
• Nonsexual objects can become sexually arousing if repeatedly associated with pleasurable sexual activity.
• Hormonal imbalance can be a cause.

Exhibitionism/Flashing

• It involves exposing one's genitals to an unsuspecting stranger.

Pedophilia

• It is sexual desire towards a prepubescent child or children.
• A pedophile is defined by their desire.
• A child molester is defined by their act.

Sadism

• It is sexual satisfaction by inflicting pain on a partner.
• It can involve fascination with physical torture.

Masochism

• It is sexual gratification from one's own pain or humiliation.

Sexual Fetishism

• It is sexual arousal from a physical object.
• The object of interest is called the fetish, and the person with the fetish is a fetishist.

Transvestic Fetishism

• It is obtaining sexual satisfaction by dressing in clothes of the opposite sex.
• An individual who practices this is called a transvestite.

Partialism

• This involves sexual interest focusing on specific parts of the body.
• It is also known as Body worship.
• Podophilia is a foot fetish.
• Oculophilia is an eye fetish.
• Maschalagnia is an armpit fetish.
• Mazophilia is a breast fetish.
• Pygophilia is a butt fetish.
• Nasophilia is a nose fetish.
• Trichophilia is a hair fetish.
• Alvinophilia is a navel/belly button fetish.
• Alvinolagnia is a belly/stomach fetish.
• Hand fetishism is a hand fetish.

Voyeurism

• It is sexual attraction to a statue, doll, mannequin, or other similar figurative objects.

Necrophilia

• It is sexual attraction to corpses.

Zoophilia

• It is a paraphilia involving cross-species sexual activity.
• It is between a human being and animals.

Scatologia

• It is sexual arousal towards obscene phone calls.
• Today, it is known as SOP or sex-on-phone.

Biastophilia

• It is the act of forcing sexual activity in an unwilling person.

Incest

• It is sexual relations between relatives which is potentially harmful.
• Relations are harmful because of the possibility of producing an abnormal offspring.

Other Paraphilias

• Fellatio: between mouth and male genitalia.
• Cunnilingus: between mouth and female genitalia.
• Anilingus: between mouth and anus.
• Coprophilia: involvement of feces during sex.
• Urolagnia: involvement of urine during sex.
