Intermittent Explosive Disorder
- A diagnosis requires recurrent behavioral outbursts representing a failure to control aggressive impulses. These outbursts can be verbal or physical, and occur twice weekly on average for at least 3 months, or three outbursts within a 12-month period that result in damage or destruction.
- The outbursts must be grossly out of proportion to the provocation and not premeditated, impulsive, and anger-based. They cannot be committed to achieve a tangible objective.
- The outbursts must cause clinically significant distress, impairment in occupational or interpersonal functioning, or be associated with legal or financial consequences.
Alcohol Withdrawal
- Alcohol withdrawal is characterized by the cessation or reduction of heavy and prolonged alcohol use.
- Symptoms include autonomic hyperactivity (sweating, increased pulse), tremors, insomnia, nausea, vomiting, hallucinations, psychomotor agitation, anxiety, and generalized tonic-clonic seizures.
- These symptoms cause clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other areas of functioning and are not attributed to any medical conditions or other disorders.
Inhalant Use Disorder
- The severity of this disorder is classified as mild, moderate, or severe based on the number of symptoms experienced.
- The disorder can also be specified as being in early remission or sustained remission depending on the time frame since last use.
- Inhalants include gasoline, acetone, nitrous oxide, butane, and amyl nitrite.
Phencyclidine Use Disorder
- This disorder can be mild, moderate, or severe based on the number of symptoms experienced.
- It can be specified as being in early remission or sustained remission depending on the time frame since last use.
- Phencyclidine (PCP) is also referred to as "Angel Dust", "supergrass", "boat", "tic tac", "zoom", "shermans", "ketamine", "cyclohexylamine", "dizocilpine", and "dissociative anesthetics."
Alcohol Use Disorder
- This disorder is characterized by a problematic pattern of alcohol use that leads to clinically significant impairment or distress.
- It is diagnosed when an individual experiences at least two of the following symptoms within a 12-month period: taking alcohol in larger amounts or for longer periods than intended, having a persistent desire to cut down or control use, spending a great deal of time obtaining, using, or recovering from alcohol, and experiencing cravings.
