Definition

• Profit: the amount of money earned above and beyond what it costs to produce and sell a product or service
• Loss: the amount of money lost when the cost of producing and selling a product or service exceeds the revenue earned

Types of Profit

• Gross Profit: the difference between revenue and the cost of goods sold
• Operating Profit: the profit earned from a company's operations, calculated by subtracting operating expenses from gross profit
• Net Profit: the profit earned after deducting all expenses, including taxes and interest, from operating profit
