Prime Numbers and Prime Factorization
- A prime number is a whole number dividable by only 1 and itself.
- Prime factorization breaks down a number into its prime factors.
Greatest Common Factor (GCF)
- The largest whole number that a series of numbers can be divided by to give whole numbers.
- To find the GCF, use prime factorization and multiply the common factors.
Least Common Multiple (LCM)
- The smallest multiple that a set of numbers shares.
- To find the LCM, use prime factorization and multiply all prime factors, including duplicates (repeated factors from each number), to get the lowest common multiple.
