- The present simple tense is used to talk about things we do regularly, habits, and general truths.
- The present continuous tense is used to talk about things we are doing now, temporary situations, and changing circumstances.
Forming the Present Simple Tense
- For the third person singular (he, she, it), we add -s or -es to the base form of the verb to form the present simple tense.
Negative Forms of the Present Tenses
- The negative form of the present simple tense for I, you, we, and they is formed using do not or doesn't (short form) + the base form of the verb.
- The negative form of the present continuous tense is formed using am not, is not, or are not (or ain't, isn't, or aren't in informal writing) + the present participle of the verb.
