Present Simple Tense
- The present simple tense describes actions or states that happen regularly or are generally true.
- It is also used to express facts or truths that are always true.
Using the Present Simple Tense
- The present simple tense is formed by using the base form of the verb for all persons except the third person singular (he, she, it).
- For the third person singular, we add 's' to the base form of the verb.
- To make a negative sentence in the present simple tense, we use "do not" (don't) before the base form of the verb.
- To ask a question in the present simple tense, we use "do" or "does" before the subject, followed by the base form of the verb.
Common Mistakes
- The present simple tense is not used to describe actions that are happening now.
- For ongoing actions, use the present continuous tense.
- When expressing a fact or truth, always double-check the tense used.
