Present Progressive Tense

Time Expressions
- Present Progressive: Now, right now, at this/that moment
- Simple Present: Frequency adverbs (always, never, sometimes, usually, hardly ever, rarely, often, seldom, normally), everyday, every night, every week/weekend, three/two times a week, twice a week, once a month
Structure
- Affirmative: Subject + Verb to be + Gerund verb + Complement (e.g., I am talking to my students)
- Negative: Subject + Verb to be + not + Gerund verb + Complement (e.g., I am not talking to my students)
- Question: (WH) + Verb to be + Subject + Gerund verb + Complement? (e.g., Am I talking to my students?)
Forming the Gerund
- Add "-ing" to most verbs (e.g., cook - cooking, listen - listening)
- Verbs ending in "-e," remove the "-e" and add "-ing" (e.g., have - having, make - making)
- Verbs ending in "ie," change "ie" to "y" and add "-ing" (e.g., lie - lying, die - dying)
- Double the final consonant for one-syllable verbs ending in consonant-vowel-consonant (e.g., stop - stopping, run - running)
